(Psalms:51:1-19) "The fifty-first Psalm is the photograph of a contrite spirit. Let us seek after the like brokenness of heart; for however excellent our words may be, if our heart is not conscious of the hell-deservingness of sin, we cannot expect to find forgiveness."- Spurgeon. Herein lies the problem with the modern church goer, we do not believe that our sin is bad enough to deserve Hell, therefore forgiveness and repentance are not necessary for us to attain Heaven. We grow up in Church, hang with the right people and are not that sinful.
Never allowing the revealing power of the Holy Spirit access to the innermost being, where we see our true wretchedness,
Lam 3:31-33 For the Lord will not cast off forever, but though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; For he does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.
Lam 3:39 Why should a living man complain, a man, about the punishment of his sins?
God does not willingly inflict punishment upon us- does not sin itself inflict the pain? Doesn't God actually just remove His Hand temporarily and let disobedience do it's work? Can we really complain about suffering for the consequences of sinful behavior. David begged God for his son's life, didn't change the outcome. We suffer for sinful behavior. We pray and ask to be released from our situation then think God isn't fair because we weren't. The fact that we suffer for sin only proves God to be God. We have a tendency to link our suffering for sin to suffering for Christ. There are some, (especially in early times) that suffer for His Righteousness, (Jesus will reward them above any measure we can imagine)
In the 1950's there were only 600 Spirit filled believers in Argentina. Fifty bible students made a commitment to pray for their country. After the fiftieth day of around the clock intercession a prophetic word came- "Weep no more for the Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed over the prince of Argentina". 18 months later hundreds of thousands were flocking to crusades in soccer stadiums. It only took a small number of Spirit filled believers earnestly interceding for their country to change it. Make a commitment to pray for your country.
I love buying things on Amazon and having it shipped to my door. But sadly I have to stop. Evidently Amazon doesn't value Christian dollars much, in their marketing for the Kindle Paperwhite they have made a stand for gay marriage. So we as Christians need make a stand for God. We need to boycott Amazon and television. If you haven't seen the ad just google for Amazon gay ad there's plenty of links out there, (one site even calls it wonderful.) Our children are watching this offensive, vulgar and godless rhetoric.
All of us are called to tell others of the reason of the Hope that is in us. Not all of us have a personality that can walk up to people and say "do you know Jesus". Prayer for lost love ones, friends and co-worker is a powerful evangelical tool and each of us have access to it. Do you know anyone who is lost? We all do, and we meet new ones everyday. I challenge you to make a list, commit to pray for them at least once a day and watch God work. Who knows- maybe He will use you to tell them, after all He is an Amazing God.
My baby daughter has been so unhappy for such a while now.
Went through a divorce, lost her boys to there Dad.
She turned to hard drugs, to ease the pain of it all,or she thought it would!
She is saved, she really wants to depend on Jesus for her happiness and Peace.
I as her Mother, ask you to PLEASE pray for her, that she will seek God and him only for true joy.
In a lesson we are doing on Wed's at church,We are trying to learn about being in bondage. If ever anyone needs to get this figured out,, it's me.
Please pray that I may get victory over strongholds in my life.
Jesus said.. He came to proclaim freedom to the captive, among many other things HE came to do.
God's moment-by-moment care of us is our one hope. The dry winds of this world are always parching the tender verdure of our inner life making the soil hard and impenetrable. We shrivel and wither beneath the sun of prosperity, but God is ever seeking to water us with His grace.
We know that President Obama will govern our nation for 4 more years, in Dan 2:21 His word says,
He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; We as Bible believing Christians have to know that our God has put him in his position, therefore we need to pray for him with diligence Ask God to give him guidance and that as a nation we will repent and seek His face.
George Washington said in his farewell speech in 1796
"It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible."
